These artworks are decorative works made from vintage NZ made ironing boards.
They are designed to hang indoors and can be made in a variety of design or colours to suit. (send me an email if what you want is not pictured here).
Ironing boards measure approx 340mm wide x 1030mm tall x 30mm deep.
This kowhai design board has been stripped back to bare metal with lacquer.
These domestic series of works are works based on changes of the roles of many families over the last few decades and the designs are based on the Arts and Crafts Movement in NZ when women were mostly excluded from professions such as lawyers, doctors, engineers etc.
